I bought a book at Sam’s Club in 1996 about the history of Barbie. I somehow lost my copy and never found it. I also lost the slip cover not long after getting it so I couldn’t recognise the book if I saw it! The book itself was pink canvas. I googled about Barbie history books published in the 90s and saw a listing on eBay that looked kind of familiar, and looking at the pics, I saw that pink canvas under the cover! It was published in 1996 too. I looked at some photos of the first pages and that was my book. It’s in excellent condition and cost only $11. You bet I snatched it up!! It’s ‘The Collectible Barbie Doll’ by Janine Fennick. I loved that book so much, I probably reread it 100 times until I lost it in my twenties. It’s such a beautiful, nostalgic thing. I was so obsessed with Barbie’s, I still love the pre-2000s dolls. After that, they got a new mold and it was very…meh. I can’t even look at the newer ones, honestly. They’re so bad 😭 I personally prefer 60s-early 90s. I remember my uncle buying me a 70s DISCO KEN at a flea market 😂 by that time it less than 20 years old, so not expensive, even if it was still in the box. It was cheesy as hell lol. Other than that, I’ve never had a 60s or 70s doll, just several reproductions of the 1959 original which I desecrated by making them goth with a black pen haha. The real eyelashes were added several years later and I always wished I would find one at a flea market or thrift store. No such luck. I haven’t bothered to even look for one on eBay because one in good shape is probably really expensive and I could not justify buying it. It would be wonderful if eBay used affirm or Klarna.

I suppose that’s my uninteresting post for today. I was just so happy to find that book that I had to gush a bit and tell my dumb stories 😬

I am about to lock this cat in the laundry room because he is driving me up a wall. It’s roughly 2 hours until I feed and shot him and he’s already begun the constant, persistent harassment 😑 Jumping on my bruised chest over and over. I don’t know what to do, it’s every night now, since I started him on the wet food and shot every 12 hours. As I have said before, he’s also become very aggressive about MY dinner! He’s snatched food off my plate, which really shocked me. I’ve started putting him in the laundry room when I have dinner. It’s the only way I can eat in peace.
