Rabbit in the Moon

GAH.

Ya know, for once I feel good enough to sit down and play a game. That’s rare. I always go right to sleep when I get home. So I sit down on my ass, all excited, and pop my game in. This is an old ps2 game I bought second hand in 2016. I’m all excited to play and then I realize, oh my god, the controls are backward or something! What is wrong with it? I look it up and realize that in some older games, the character will only move/walk in the direction relative to where they’re facing using the up or down button, which is ANNOYING AS FUCK, because it’s hard to get them facing perfectly forward or whatever and they keep running into walls and shit. I don’t think I described that right but whatever. I never make any sense. The first time I tried playing it in 2016, I wondered what the fuck was wrong with the controller. I can’t get anywhere substantial. I got so annoyed, I paused and came on here to complain about it. I don’t remember having this problem back when I used to play before, probably because I mostly played mostly 2D fighting, racing and platformers/metroidvanias where you could only go forward and backwards (you can backtrack and go any direction in metroidvanias tho, I might be full of shit with these descriptions because I’m not particularly eloquent) Which is something I still prefer, 3D games always gave me trouble. I love some 3D games now because now you can easily move the character any fucking way you want. I still have a little trouble but I still play them. But the older ones are a true pain in the ass. Silent Hill 2 is the same way, it is soooo hard to play. I have not beat it after all this time. I mostly watched my friend play it when I was younger, because I didn’t have a ps2 console at that time (got one a short while after that) and lived vicariously through her. It’s weird how I always liked to watch either dad (I liked to watch him play DOOM on the pc specifically when I was a little kid, he started me on the horror stuff early) or my friends play games, I would just sit next to them, watching closely and making the occasional comment. I really enjoyed that. Maybe I should kidnap my friend and make her play it haha

I’m really looking forwards to the Silent Hill 2 remake for this reason, it will be 23424 times easier to play! I’m planning on a ps5 soon, with the money I get back from my Self loan (a credit building thing where you pay monthly and get most of the money back when you’re done, it’s like $700) I’m halfway through it now.

I also lost the original controller to my ps2, maybe I need to go on Ebay and get a Dualshock. Or to Infinity Gaming. I also dislike having an off-brand controller because I’m snotty like that. XD

Also it was hot in my game room even though the fan was on and I got sweaty and that pissed me off.

Anyhow I just thought I’d hop on here and complain about stuff no one cares about lolz

Edit: Tank controls. That’s what they’re called. Glad they went the way of the dodo. No wonder I didn’t really like 3D games back then. I couldn’t fucking PLAY THEM worth a shit. Guess I’ll have to become more acclimated to that type of controls and use them more…because I have completely forgotten how to use them…if I don’t do something like every day I forget how to do it and have to get used to it AGAIN. I obviously used them as a kid but now I’m old and confused…blah
